Saoud Urban Development and Accor Break Ground on Swissôtel Residences West Cairo

Saoud Urban Development and Accor mark the start of construction on Egypt’s first Swissôtel-branded residences in 6th of October City.

On 27 September 2026, Saoud Urban Development and global hospitality group Accor broke ground on Swissôtel Residences West Cairo. It is Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts’ first project in Cairo, and the first time the brand’s hospitality comes to branded living in Egypt.

The groundbreaking marks the move from agreement to construction, months after the two groups signed their strategic partnership in Dubai. Mostafa Talha, Chairman of Saoud Urban Development, and Hossam Eissa, Managing Director, attended the ceremony. They were joined by Frank Naboulsi, Regional Vice President Operations – Fairmont & Raffles, Egypt, and Managing Director, Accor Egypt, and Abdellatif Gebril, Regional General Manager, Accor PM&E Egypt.

A vote of confidence in Egypt

The project reflects confidence in the strength and stability of Egypt’s economy and in the country’s position as a regional and global investment destination. It is undertaken in support of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and in line with Egypt Vision 2030.

An Egyptian–Emirati–French partnership

Saoud Urban Development is built on an Egyptian–Emirati partnership. Accor is a French group and one of the world’s largest hospitality companies. Together, they plan to deliver destinations that combine Swiss precision, five-star service and long-term investment value.

“Today we move from vision to reality,” said Mostafa Talha, Chairman of Saoud Urban Development. “Bringing Swissôtel to Cairo was never only about adding a global name to the market. It is about setting a new benchmark for how people live, stay and invest in Egypt. Breaking ground with Accor is the first of many steps toward that goal.”

Location and investment value

“Swissôtel Residences West Cairo sits in a truly premium location, whether you are looking to live here or to invest here. West Cairo now has everything residents and investors need,” said Hossam Eissa, Managing Director of Saoud Urban Development. “Together with the strength of the Swissôtel brand and Accor’s management, this location allows us to offer investors a guaranteed return on their investment, giving them both a world-class residence and a secure, long-term asset.”

What the project includes

Swissôtel Residences West Cairo is in 6th of October City, one of Greater Cairo’s fastest-growing residential and investment areas. It is minutes from the Grand Egyptian Museum, the Pyramids and Sphinx International Airport.

The project brings hospitality, business and shopping together in one destination. Alongside a luxury Swissôtel hotel and branded residences, it includes premium administrative space, a specialized medical center, and retail, dining and lifestyle options. At full scale, it will have:

  • 660 branded residences
  • 180 hotel rooms
  • 120 retail and entertainment spaces
  • 8 signature restaurants and bars
  • 3 wellness centers

Residences range from studios to three-bedroom units. All are delivered fully furnished and equipped, with Swissôtel services that include a 24/7 concierge, housekeeping, in-residence dining and on-call assistance. Accor will manage the hotel and residences once the project is complete.

Part of a bigger plan

The project is a cornerstone of Saoud Urban Development’s US$2 billion investment expansion plan, which covers large-scale projects across key tourism and urban sectors. It also supports Egypt Vision 2030’s goals for sustainable tourism growth and positions West Cairo as a new hub for international hospitality and investment.

Construction is now underway, and this is just the beginning.
